SCOTT COLEMAN

Scott was born and raised in Central Florida and is a fifth-generation Floridian. The love of nature stems from a variety of influences, including his mother, Aliye Cullu, a proud and self-proclaimed “tree hugger” who is also an accomplished nature plein air painter and a lifelong professional artist. At the time of Scott’s conception, his parents were living in a small commune in the northern woods of Wisconsin, where his father was employed as a professional lumberjack. As a result, Scott is very familiar with chainsaws and their use.
His great-aunt, Dr. Mary H. Clench, held numerous roles in the field of Ornithology, was a Fellow of the American Ornithologists’ Society, served on the Board of Directors of the National Audubon Society, and was an Assistant Curator at the Carnegie Museum, among many other notable career accomplishments.
His aunt, Perrin Penniman, is a Program Coordinator for The Nature Conservancy and has dedicated her life to the protection and stewardship of nature.
Scott’s father is a sportsman who has devoted his life to teaching his boys the importance of respecting our natural resources and wildlife.
Scott graduated from the University of South Florida with a degree in management and finance. During his college years, he worked as a carpenter and a nightclub bouncer, acquiring skills that are undoubtedly valuable as an ONFA volunteer.
Professionally, Scott trained in architecture and general contracting before settling into a career in Electrical Contracting. During his career, Scott has managed a variety of significant projects, including the design consultation for the electrical and systems infrastructure at Disney Springs. He is a past Chairman of the City of Orlando’s Building and Fire Code Board of Appeals and has held various board positions for numerous professional organizations. He is currently Vice President of the Central Chapter of The Electrical Council of Florida.
His varied expertise and many skills make Scott uniquely suited for his position as Director of the Board of ONFA. His areas of interest include Ranger Patrol and trash cleanup projects.
In his time off work, Scott enjoys sharing adventures with his pre-teen son, listening to music, and exploring the forest in his highly modified Jeep XJ, the “Sky Donkey”.
