DARRELL GILMORE
Darrell was born and raised in North Central Florida and has always had a keen interest in nature, dating back to his childhood when he kept snakes and bugs in his room.

After a career as a journeyman pipefitter throughout the Eastern United States, he retired to Salt Springs in the middle of the Ocala National Forest. There, he pursues his passions for off-road motorcycle riding, kayaking, and photographing animals and plants in the forest.
Darrell has three children, five grandchildren, and one great-grandson. His partner is Rupert, a most loved Blackmouth Cur mix dog who loves exploring the forest as much as Darrell does in his off-duty time.
Darrell was one of the first volunteers to join ONFA as Ranger Patrol Coordinator. He shares his love and knowledge of the Forest with new volunteers and is active in assisting visitors and monitoring trash dumping.
