Volunteer on the water!
The Ocala National Forest is bordered by two prominent rivers: the Ocklawaha River on the western boundary, and the larger St. John’s River on the eastern boundary. The Ocala National Forest is home to hundreds of lakes, numerous streams, and springs. These waterways have historically been recognized as habitat for prime trophy large mouth bass and sport fish species, including bluegill, red-ear, warmouth, black crappie, catfish, and sunshine bass. The Field Ranger Team, made up of trained volunteers, can assist in educating visitors who are unfamiliar with the rules and regulations of the Ocala National Forest’s many waterways and their inhabitants. Please reach out to us to volunteer and share your passion and love for our waterways and fishing in the Ocala National Forest.
